What is No-Fault Insurance?

Answer:

No-fault insurance (a/k/a Personal Injury Protection or “PIP”) is mandatory insurance that Florida law requires be carried by all motor vehicle owners. It provides you, the insured, with access to $10,000 of medical and lost wage reimbursement benefits. Important things to keep in mind in order to preserve access to your full $10,000 of benefits, is that you must be seen by a qualifying physician or medical practice within 14 days of the crash. If you wait until day 15 to seek medical assistance, you are denied your PIP benefits. The other consideration is that you must be diagnosed with an Emergency Medical Condition (EMC) by a qualifying physician or medical practitioner. Otherwise, your insurance company may terminate your benefits at $2,500.00, depriving you of $7,500 worth of benefits that you’ve been paying premiums on all along.

Important things to keep in mind in order to preserve your full $10,000 worth of benefits, is that you must be seen within 14 days of the crash in order to have those benefits. If you wait until 15 days, then you don’t get the benefit of any of that money.
